In 2017 I participated in a real estate reality TV called Sellers Market. The show is about five realtors competing to win one listing. It was a really fun experience, and I enjoyed seeing the “behind the scenes” of reality tv production.

*Fun Fact* - the show was structured so that everyone would win some listings. Just like most reality tv, it’s not entirely reality. I won the most listings, and there were even sellers that wanted to pick me…but they had to go with another agent because production needed to keep things balanced.

Episode 1 - The Kelowna Dream

The realtors compete for a chance to win the listing on this spectacular home with views of the lake, a stunning swimming pool and every imaginable luxury. The commission on this one is big and the realtors ALL want to win!

Episode 2 - The Art of the De-Clutter

Cory and Alicia Perkins are an adorable couple that live in an equally adorable two bedroom, two bathroom, 1000 square foot condo.  Copper Sky, the complex where the Perkins’ live, is a fantastic complex with a pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, a gym, and an remarkable view.  They want to move into something larger, and to do so require a selling price of 340 000$.  However, many other condominiums in the same complex are for sale, and for significantly lower prices.  The agents are going to have to be straightforward and honest with the Perkins’ if they want to impress them, but if they pitch a price too low, they’ll lose the listing.  The agent who can strike the perfect balance will win the listing.

Episode 3 - REALTOR with Heart Needed

Dustin and Heidi Griffin own two houses, one for them and their family, and another they bought for an eight person family that needed housing.  The eight person family has since moved to another city, and now they have a property to expose to the market.  The agents of Seller’s Market all want the right to represent this four bedroom duplex for many reasons.  The property has a central location, is quite affordable, and with four bedrooms, it is a great home for kids or for a rental income property.  It should sell fast and for more than list price.  Darryl, Amanda, Marika, and Luke inspect the home and prepare their pitches, but who can do that extra bit of convincing the Griffins for the right to represent this house?

Episode 4 - When Couples Disagree

Lee-Ann Davenport wants to sell her scenic one-and-a-half story home in Lake Country.  The agents of Seller’s Market all want this property because the comparables for it peg the price at around $600 000, and that is one healthy commision.  However, the Seller’s Market agents have their work cut out for them if they want to get that price.  Lee-Ann Davenport is a professional house painter and stager, but her home, well, let’s just say she does not bring her work home with her.  The home is cluttered, half-painted in bizarre colours, and over-decorated with dated furnishings.  The agents will have to be very careful with their comments in their pitches if they want to get the listing.

Episode 5 - Dealing with the Tough Times

Karen and Paul Wells have owned their 2300 square foot home for 14 years.  Recently retired, the Wells want to sell their home to help their three sons and their young families.  To complicate matters further, one of their sons has brain cancer.  The Wells’ are highly motivated, and the agents want to get the best price as soon as possible to help the family.  The property should fetch a fair price on the market. It is quite unique with three kitchens, a two bedroom carriage house, and another bachelor-sized rental property.  As a result of this unique house and unique situation, they’ll need an equally unique realtor.

Episode 6 - Spend or Save?

Crissy and Jason want to downsize from their gorgeous home, and are looking to the winning realtor for advice; is it worth spending money to upgrade a home before selling?

Episode 7 - Antiques Homeshow

Bill, a retired fighter pilot, has a beautiful home filled with stunning antiques and wants to sell both home and antiques as a package. How will our realtors compete for this unique listing?

Episode 8 - Time to Move

Josh has been wanting to move for a while now and here is his chance; 4 of Kelowna’s top realtors all want him to pick them. Who will he choose?

Episode 9 - The Call of Home

When you own a stunning 5500 sq ft dream home in BC with views and a pool, why would you move? Because family ties are strong, and Edmonton is calling. This couple needs to choose a realtor, fast!

Episode 10 - An Empty House

The tenants have just moved out and Cyndy and Russ have decided to sell their large 5 bedroom home, rather than rent again. Will it be difficult selling an ex-rental home?

Episode 12 - Downsizing

Bob and Violette have just retired and are looking forward to living in a smaller home. But first, they need to choose a realtor to sell their beautiful current home with massive views and a 4 car garage.

Episode 13 - Caribbean Calling

Doug and his family have fallen in love with the Caribbean and have bought a beautiful island home in Honduras. But before they pack their snorkels and move, they need to sell their gorgeous home in Kelowna, and what to do about the tenants in the basement suite?
